For many of today’s consumers, functionality is no longer the only, or even the most important criterion when choosing a product.

In my opinion, this is due to the fact many of the products we use are based on mature technology, where the difference between cutting-edge and older tech is so small that ordinary consumers never even notice. That’s also why so many manufacturers and brands out there try to tout their features primarily by educating us consumers, rather than focusing on taking full advantage of what mature technologies offer to make solid products.

There are a lot of 2-in-1 or many-in-one products on the market. We have seen some good designs that excel at most or all their uses, but most of them, unfortunately, fail to meet our expectations. The Nomvdic X300, my product of the day, very much belongs to the first group.

Let’s take a look at it first:

The combination of matte metal and leather immediately caught my eye. For most people, myself included, it’s a classic choice for a high-end look. The vintage control knobs offer precise adjustments and a satisfying feel, while the handle enhances portability. The overall look of the X300 fits almost anywhere in my home without being obtrusive, which is also the big advantage of its classic design.

As for the stereo, Harman Kardon has customized and tuned the X300’s speakers. The 30W Class D amplifier works with dual sets of tweeters and woofers to deliver clear, detailed sound with powerful output volume. To our ears, Harman Kardon has once again done a good job of giving the unit very balanced mids, while treble remains rather lively with the bass being deeper than most stereo systems of the same size.

As for the projector, it’s very clever to put a pop-up mirror under the cover to reflect the image. This allows you to turn any surface into a screen up to 100 inches in size, even the ceiling. Full HD, 3,000,000:1 high contrast, and 3D Blu-ray support; you can easily tell the design team did not compromise on image quality. It also has keystone correction and four-corner adjustment for quick setup.

X300 offers a wide range of connectivity options, so everyone can easily handle it and find their personal preferences. You’ll find multiple ports on the back for streaming content, mirroring games or videos, and even connecting headphones. Of course, 5Ghz fast Wi-Fi is also integrated, so you can easily cast wirelessly from your smart devices.

Personally, I am not a big fan of portable devices as in most cases it means they do not last long and I always have to pay some attention to the power status, meaning I can not use them to their full potential. (This is probably a bad habit I got into with my phones, I’m looking at you iPhone 6.) That’s why battery life is at the top of my priority list when choosing a device. The X300 has a built-in 10,000 mAh battery that provides up to 6 hours of audio or 3 hours of projection. For me, that’s more than enough, as it means we can stream an entire movie on it without worry. Plus, the X300 lets you extend streaming time with a portable power bank, making it even more suitable for outdoor activities.

As a portable 2-in-1 stereo and projector system, X300 bridges the gap between its unique retro esthetics and actual functionality, making it not only an entertainment device but also a decorative piece for your home.
