The race towards a foldable phone is on. The U.S Patent and Trademark office released Apple’s application for a foldable phone design patent on Feb. 14, 2019. A few days ahead of Samsung’s unpacked its own version. However, it is stark how the two smartphone giants are in different stage in developing the technology.

From the design, Apple seems to opted for a smaller screen compare to that of the Galaxy Fold. It will keep a similar screen size as the current models today. However, there is still a long way to go, so Apple could make some significant change when the product comes out (if ever).

On the other hand, Samsung’s Galaxy fold is set to starting shipping on April 26th for $1980.
Huawei announced the company will release its version in a few days at the Mobile World Congress.
