Forget having to hold your camera awkwardly when you’re in motion. Forget selfie sticks, forget all those Go-Pro accessories that you had to buy just to have the camera be able to catch you doing that awesome 360 in your sport of choice. Now with R1 you can even forget the fact that you are even being filmed and concentrate on whatever amazing trick it is you have been working so hard on. The R1 will follow you on its own capturing your every move on camera.

R1 is a special kind of camera built with an AI supercompter, advanced robotics, and uses computer vision. There are 13 cameras on the R1 making sure that every angle is covered, and it doesn’t miss a split second of the shots you are hoping to capture.

It doesn’t follow your phone or a tracker, R1 follows YOU so you can go totally 100% hands-free. At the same time as following you it can also understand what you are doing, what is around you, and what not to fly into. Since the R1 can interpret each of the scenarios it is put in, by always analyzing its flight data, it can actually become more capable over time. And if you want it to rather follow your friend then you – that’s possible too, just tap on them in the app.

It’s so advanced but so easy to use that anyone can use it within ten minutes of picking it up. All you need to do is swipe up in the Skydio app and it takes off. It can take off from the palm of your hand so no need to find a flat or empty space to launch your R1. Once launched R1 immediately starts shooting. R1 can shoot you in several modes you only need to choose which one. It can follow you, or lead you, shoot from the side, orbit and stay still to shoot you in tripod mode. Of course, if you want to take control, you can in the app.

The R1 is ready for any adventure. With its slim design it fits easily into your backpack so you can bring it to every summit and it’s lightweight weighing only 2.2 lbs, so it won’t weigh you down.

Its weight may not weigh you down but its price at $2499 USD just might. With that in mind the creators have set up the possibility to pay in monthly installments starting at $220 USD.

Would you spend $2499 USD on a camera?
