1. Apple's secret revealed

Apple has officially admitted intentionally slowing down older iPhones with software updates, a bid to prevent the affected devices to shut down unexpectedly due to aging lithium batteries. Angry customers accuse the smart phone giant of pushing sales of newer products with this tactic, while Apple maintains these updates are to prolong battery life on older devices. 


2. More investment for DiDi

Didi Chuxing, China’s biggest ride-hailing company raised another $4 billion for AI, electric cars and international expansion. The new fundraising came from an extensive list of investors, pushing Didi’s valuation to $56 billion.


3. Galaxy S9's features leaked

Almost all the key new features on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S9 are now basically public knowledge. According to Forbes, 15 new features are included in this phone, centrally positioned cameras, single rear camera for S9 and dual cameras for S9 plus, and more powerful chipsets to name a few. 


4. FCC's next target

Following the repeal of net neutrality from last week, FCC’s next big vote on reclassifying smartphone data as broadband will take place by Feb, 3rd. According to Motherboard, this vote would “not only camouflage many fo the communities in the US with no access to the internet, but could prevent them from getting necessary funding to build that access”. 


5. Litecoin founder cleared coins

Litecoin’s founder Charlie Lee announced he had sold and donated all of his Litecoins, maintaining it had become “a conflict of interest” for him to make litecoin transactions. This rare divesting raised questions on Lee’s intentions and potential involvement on inside trading, while Lee denied involvement and pledged his commitment to continue working on Litecoin. The divest had not caused drastic change to Litecoin’s price.
